Obituary for Betty L. McConnell (Rockwood)

Betty McConnell, 94, of North Huntingdon, passed away March 1, 2021 at Westmoreland Excela Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Anthony Leroy “Red”, son Anthony Jr. “Tony (wife Virginia), and daughters Jenny and Marlene (David Tinley), and grand-daughter Nina Soisson. She is survived by sons Michael of Denver Colorado, Thomas and his wife, Mary Ann, of Leesburg Virginia; Jeff and his wife, Nancy, of Greensburg and daughters Bette Ann Soisson of Rillton and Bonnie of Pittsburgh. Betty is also survived by 17 grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Betty was a loving and devoted mother, who worked alongside her husband Red to build his auto-repair business. She was also a woman ahead of her time, working at Montgomery Wards during an era when most women stayed at home. Betty never lost the spirit of the little girl whose adventures started in the oil fields of Oklahoma, and she never lost the thrill of winning a hand of Pinochle. Most recently, Betty was a resident at golden heights, whose dedicated staff provided her the highest level of compassionate and loving care. Betty found solace and comfort in her Catholic faith, and the family now finds solace that she is at rest and at peace, united with her loved ones who wait to greet her. Friends will be received Thursday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Ott Funeral Home Inc 805 Pennsylvania Avenue Irwin. Parting prayers will be held 9:00 a.m. Friday in the funeral home follow by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow in Irwin Union Cemetery, North Huntingdon.
