Obituary for Dominic A. Melocchi

Dominic Melocchi, 84, of North Huntingdon died Saturday February 20, 2021 at Harbour Senior Living, Monroeville. He was born June 28, 1936, in Sant’ Angelo Del Pesco Italy, Abruzzi Providence and entered the United States on February 20, 1947 at Ellis Island, NY, son of the late Raffaele and Carmela (Zaccardi) Melocchi. He grew up in Rankin and entered St. Brendan School, then attended St. Thomas High School, Braddock and graduated in 1954. Dominic is a US Army and National Guard veteran serving from June 1959 to May 1965 with an honorable discharge. Dominic retired after 40 years as a highly skilled Union Bricklayer and Stone Mason. He was a resident of North Huntingdon from 1996 until Dec 2018, when he moved to Monroeville. He was a devoted catholic all his life and was a member of the St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon. Dominic was a hard worker and was highly respected by his neighbors, co-workers, employers and his private clients for his professionalism, precision and beautiful work. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Philomena Candiello and a brother, Carmen J. Melocchi. Surviving is a brother John Melocchi and his wife, Dorothy, of North Irwin, sister-in-law Assunta (Palmieri) Melocchi, of North Huntingdon; he was a caring and generous uncle to nine nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews. The Melocchi family would like to thank Harbour Assisted Living and Redstone @ Home Hospice for the care and compassion they extended to Dominic. Friends will be received 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Feb. 23, 2021, at which time parting prayers will be held in the funeral home follow by a 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated in St. Agnes Church. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery and Mausoleum. The family suggest in lieu of flowers if desired memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society.
