Obituary for Edward A Bavolar

Edward A. Bavolar, 91, of North Huntingdon, died Thursday, January 12, 2023. He was born February 09, 1931, in Braddock, a son of the late Andrew and Anna H. Koncerak Bavolar. After graduating from Scott HS in 1948, he joined the US Air Force for four years (1952) and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. When he came back home, his interest in aircraft was ignited and he spent a year and a half at the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics (PIA), graduating in late 1953. In 1966, Ed met Frances (Fran) Knasinsky in North Braddock, PA and they wed in 1967. Ed landed a career job in St. Louis as a aviation mechanic with Ozark Airlines and relocated there with Fran. In 1970 they had a son, Edward. After retiring in 1990, they moved to FL for several years. Ed was passionate for radio controlled (RC) airplanes. On his days off, he could often be found at a model airplane field with his son in St. Louis field, along with a bunch of his RC pals from Ozark Airlines who also had the yearning for flight. Ed also enjoyed attending polka dances in FL and in PA with Fran. He and Fran made everlasting memories dancing to their favorite polka bands. Ed worked tirelessly at work with his mind and hands, even on holidays when he could. At home, like at work, he could repair anything with success. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. He was unendingly proud of Frances and his son and always tried his best to support them. Anyone who knew Ed knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances M. Knasinsky Bavolar; brother, Charles Bavolar; sister, Wilma Bavolar and nephew, Charles 'Butch' Bavolar. He is survived by his son Edward Bavolar, Jr. (Jennifer Daugherty and her daughter, Ashley Mikell) of North Huntingdon; niece, Kathleen Graff of North Carolina and numerous other nieces and nephews. At the family’s request, there will be no public viewing.
A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, January 18th at Sts. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, 431 George St, Braddock, PA. Arrangements by the Ott Funeral Home, Inc. 805 Pennsylvania Ave, Irwin, PA 15642, 724 863-8900. For online condolences / directions, visit us at ottfuneralhome.com.
