Obituary for Fred B Depp

Fred B. Depp, age 97, formerly of Manor passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Fred was born on April 9, 1926 in Hamilton PA the son of the late Duff and Della (Holben) Depp. Fred was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII and he was a member of the Manor United Church of Christ where he served on the Consistory Board. Fred retired from Westinghouse EMD in Cheswick where he worked as a maintenance supervisor. He also retired as a life member of the Manor Volunteer Fire Department with 60 years of service. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, he loved spending time at “the farm” with his children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter and he enjoyed many hunting seasons with his family and friends at the farm, (BF’s Buck). Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Jenevie “Jean” (Yeager) Depp, his brothers William, David “Jiggs”, Frank, Larry “Dick” Depp; his sister Myrna Jack and granddaughter Jennifer (Strunak) Shirley. He is survived by his son Clifford (Debbie) and daughter Renee Strunak; his grandchildren Miranda Slivka (Adam), Stephanie Depp, Greg Strunak (Kaylee); great-granddaughter Olivia Slivka and his grandson-in-law Tommy Shirley; his sister Ruth Ann Thomas and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 2-6 PM in the Ott Funeral Home Inc., 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin 724-863-8900. Funeral services will be on Monday at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Diane Wiley officiating with military honors to follow the service. A private interment will be in the Roundtop Cemetery, Punxsutawney on Tuesday. The Manor Volunteer Fire Department will hold services on Sunday at 5:30 PM in the funeral home.
