Obituary for Harry Joseph Waite

Harry Joseph Waite, 59, a life-long resident of Irwin, passed from this earth to be with our Lord on Monday April 26, 2021. Harry was a kind, loving and big-hearted brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend who cherished the simple pleasures of life and brought joy to everyone he met. His smile and abundant laughter could brighten anyone’s day. Harry was preceded in death by his loving parents, Raymond and Helen (McKenna) Waite. Born on April 3, 1962, Harry celebrated each new day with a positive outlook. Even through many difficult health issues, he never complained but instead thought of other’s comfort first. He celebrated the beauty of life surrounding him and lived his life with a strong faith towards God and a compassion for those less fortunate than him. Harry loved picnics, taking walks, going to PNC Park, and especially bowling with his league. He had an abundance of friends and loving support from many within Community Living Care, ARC of Westmoreland, Paula Teacher and Westmoreland Special Olympics. Harry was a devout Catholic and long-time member of Immaculate Conception Church in Irwin. He was a 1981 graduate of Norwin High School. Harry loved bowling and you would be hard pressed to find a more loyal Steelers, Pirates, Penguins or Pitt fan anywhere. He will be deeply missed by his four siblings, Ann Grossman and her husband, Steve, of Clayton, North Carolina, Raymond Waite, Jr., of Westerville, Ohio, James Waite and his wife, Zauyah, of Amherst, Massachusetts, and Catherine Collins and her husband, Robert, of Monroeville; ten adored nephews and nieces; three loved great-nieces, a great-nephew and his house mates Brian and Joe. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Thursday at Ott Funeral Home, 805 Pennsylvania Avenue, Irwin. Parting prayers will be held 9:00 a.m. Friday followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, North Huntingdon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Special Olympics – Westmoreland County, 135 Clelian Heights Lane, Greensburg, PA, 15601 or Immaculate Conception Church of Irwin, PA.
