Obituary for Henry "Floyd" Grosz

Henry “Floyd” Grosz Jr., 85 of Irwin, PA, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family and beloved wife, Jean, on June 10, 2022. He was born July 9, 1936 in Plum Township, PA, to the late Henry and Jane (McCutcheon) Grosz and graduated Plum High School in 1954. Floyd was a retired loyal employee of Bell Telephone Company for 43 years and a Veteran of the United States Army. Floyd is survived by his beloved wife and dance partner of over 60 years, Laura “Jean” Grosz (Schade). The light and soul of every social gathering, Floyd and Jean shared their infectious love for life, community, and togetherness as active members of the Norwin Elks, Moose, American Legion Post 359 of Irwin, bowling league, and Free Masons. Meticulous and exacting, Floyd was a lifelong handyman, performing carpentry, plumbing and electrical work, plastering, tiling, and painting; if a project required new skills, he spared no effort in learning them, for he never wanted to have to turn down a friend in need of assistance. He was the devoted father of four sons, Scott Grosz (Heidi Betler) of Wyoming, Mark Grosz (Lisa Kardos) of Greensburg, PA, Todd Grosz (Terri Wend) of Sacramento, CA, and Jeff Grosz of Irwin, PA. He is also survived by eight precious grandchildren; Jocelyn, Michael, Ellyn, Brandon, Drew, T.J., Kayse, and Brianna, along with many great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lois, and is survived by his dear sister, Audrey Farah, of Cabot, PA.
Friends will be received at the Ott Funeral Home, 805 Pennsylvania Avenue, Irwin on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 3-7 PM.
