Obituary for Judith Mae "Judy" Ruggeri (Salvati)

Judith "Judy" Mae (Salvati) Ruggeri, 83, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., formerly of Irwin, passed away Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus. Judith was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Alice Salvati, and sister, Marian Salvati. She is survived by a sister, Cindy Salvati, of Plum. Judy attended Jeanette Assembly of God and was a faithful Christian, who is at peace with her creator. Judy was born March 26, 1939, graduating from Arnold High School, where she was a majorette. After high school, in 1961, she attended a friend's wedding where she met the love of her life, Charles "Sonny" Ruggeri. Judy and Sonny soon married Jan. 13, 1962. They were lovingly married for 61 years. Together they had two children, David Ruggeri (wife Flo Ruggeri) and Debi Penrod. Judy and Sonny first lived in Mt. Lebanon, where she worked for Pittsburgh Plate Glass. They then moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she was a VP at National Distillery. After their time in Cincinnati, they moved back to the Pittsburgh area and settled in Irwin, where Judy was a manager for Kelly Services and was also very accomplished in real estate. Judy and Sonny opened their first Fantastic Sams hair salon in 1988, in Greensburg, which over the years led to much success. Today, they own six salons in the Pittsburgh regional area. One of the most prized and favorite role of all was that of being a grandma to Brittany, Sydney, Nicolas, Mia and Aidan. From the time they were born, Judy was THE babysitter who always had time for each of them. From diaper changes to graduations, Judy was always there. Judy loved anything chocolate and of course her spaghetti, in which she loved making the family her homemade spaghetti sauce, every Sunday. Despite her long fought battle with Alzheimer's, Judy always had a smile on her face. She enjoyed music, loved to dance, visit the beach and LOVED kids. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Judith from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, 724-863-8900.
