Obituary for Lavon "Bonnie" Thornton (Yeager)

Lavon "Bonnie" (Yeager) Thornton, 96, of Irwin, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2023, at home. She was born Jan. 24, 1927, in Braddock, a daughter of the late Lester and Dolores Folley Yeager. Bonnie was a member of Calvary Assembly Church and enjoyed playing Bingo. In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Thornton; a brother, Edward Yeager; and two sisters, Alice Faye Wisnewski and Margaret "Babe" DiGiulio. She is survived by her five children, Darlene Holman (Vince), of Irwin, Richard Thornton (Toni), of North Huntingdon, Gary Thornton (Lissette), of Baltimore, Md., Bruce Thornton (Kara), of Herminie, and Daniel Thornton, of Irwin; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Bonnie from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday in the OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, 724 863-8900. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Ott Funeral Home Inc. Chapel with Pastor Nick Poole officiating. Entombment will follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon.
