Linda Joy Apelquist, 82, of Irwin, died Saturday, January 21, 2023. She was born February 12, 1940, in Braddock, a daughter of the late Alvin and Grace Holberg Apelquist. Linda was a former employee of US Steel and retired administrator for BNY Mellon Bank, Pittsburgh. She was a longtime and faithful member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Irwin. She enjoyed bowling, reading, trying her luck at the casino and travelling with family and friends. Linda's family and her friends were the center of her life and she tried to be present at every important event or milestone. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Norma Varsafsky and Judith Hummell and a dear cousin, Karlene Nerger. She is survived by her two nieces, Linda Lutz (Jason) and Jeanne Young; three nephews, Dale, Keith and Chuck Varsafsky; numerous nieces and nephews and their families and lifelong friends, June, Arlene, Susie and Rose. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Linda, Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 612 Chestnut St, Irwin. Private interment was in Monongahela Cemetery, North Braddock.
