Obituary for Mary Louise "Mary Lou" O'Connor (Barry Rodgers)

Mary Louise “Mary Lou”O’Connor (formerly Rodgers), age 79 of Irwin, died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at her home at New Haven Court at Linwood assisted living facility in Greensburg. She was born September 6, 1941 in Sharon, PA, a daughter of the late John “Jack” and Virginia “Ginny” Barry. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. O’Connor; sisters, Marty (Jim) Britcher and Kathy (Ken) Burkley. Mary Lou earned a Bachelors (Education) and Masters (Counseling) degrees at the University of Pittsburgh and enjoyed all her students and co-workers in her 30-year career as a Guidance Counselor for the Norwin School District. She is survived by her children, Greg (Tracy) Rodgers of North Huntingdon, Scott (Susan Wilson) Rodgers of Rockwood, and James (Laura) Rodgers of Clarkston, MI; her grandchildren, Ryan (Alissa) Rodgers, Brad (Kari) Rodgers, Brittany (Brett) Nickoli, Matthew Rodgers, Luke Rodgers, Ian Rodgers and Aaron Rodgers; her great-grandchildren, Jake and Mia Rodgers. and Nora and Nash Nickoli; sibling, John “Jack” (Judy) Barry; Also many nieces, nephews and step relatives, including step-daughter, Erin O’Connor Parker and step-grandchildren Sean and Shannon Parker; and dog companion, Mini. Friends will be received at the Ott Funeral Home Inc., 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin on Friday from 6 to 8 PM where a funeral service will take place on Saturday at 1:00 PM in the funeral home.
