Obituary for Marylou Alexander (DeMarco)

Marylou (DeMarco) Alexander, 87, of White Oak passed away peacefully on February 17, 2022 in her home surrounded by her family. Marylou was born on July 28, 1934 in Pittsburgh to the late Domenico and Angelina DeMarco. She grew up in the Larimer Avenue section of East Liberty and attended the First Italian Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh and Westinghouse High School. She spent many years in food service supporting her family.
Her greatest joy was making sure her five children and ten grandchildren were well-loved and well-fed. Family gatherings and celebrations were full of unending amounts of her famous meatballs, pasta, cookies and cakes. Whether you wanted to laugh and have fun or needed a big kiss and a shoulder to cry on, Nana's house was the place to be. Nana was very wise and taught many life lessons. The only thing she didn't teach was how to live without her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Antoinette DeFazio, Frank DeMarco and Generosa LeDonne. She is survived by her children Angela Thompson of Oakmont, Daniel "Luke" Lorenzo of North Huntingdon, Howard (Jessica) Alexander of Murrysville, Laura (Glenn) Hobbs of North Huntingdon, Thomas Alexander of Manor and grandchildren Ross, Michael, Emma, Jakob, Kate, Brady, Abby, Dominic, Cameron and Jillian. Friends will be received Sunday 1 to 3 p.m. at Ott Funeral Home Inc 805 Pennsylvania Avenue Irwin at which time a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Irwin Union Cemetery, North Huntingdon.
