Obituary for Matilda Abraham (Maskaly)

Matilda (Maskaly) Abraham, age 97 of North Huntingdon died on Sunday, April 10, 2022 in Greensburg. She was born August 4, 1924 in Rankin, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Susko) Maskaly. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband James Abraham; son, James David Abraham; daughter Diana Lee Abraham; siblings John and Peter Maskaly, Mary, Susan, Helen, Anna and Elizabeth. Matilda was a member of St. Stephens Byzantine Catholic Church of North Huntingdon. Surviving are a daughter Debi Stoner and her husband Bob of North Huntingdon; granddaughters Kristen Falk (Matt) of North Huntingdon and Ericka Abraham (Todd) of New York, and a daughter-in-law Mary Abraham of Virginia. Great grandchildren, Matthew, Ethan, and Maya Falk of North Huntingdon. The two most important things in Tillies life were her faith and her family. She grew up in the Russian Orthodox Church, and spent her adult life practicing the Byzantine Catholic faith. Each day she took time to pray for her family and friends. In her younger days, you could find Tillie outside early in the morning planting flowers or watering the lawn. She had a close relationship with her two granddaughters Ericka and Kristen as they were growing up, teaching them all about cooking, gardening, and crafting. There was always a craft project being lovingly created by Tillie’s own hands. Christmas was Tillie’s favorite time of year with decorations in every corner of the house, including her hand-painted ceramic village. Family dinners during the holidays will be fondly remembered, along with some traditional Slovak recipes. Later in life there were family picnics and celebrations at Debi’s house. Above all, Tillie’s greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother, and she felt blessed to become a great-grandmother to Matthew, Ethan and Maya. She will be missed by all those lives she touched. Friends will be received at the Ott Funeral Home, 805 Pennsylvania Ave. on Wednesday, 2-4:30 PM at which time a funeral service will take place. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Heart Assoc. 441 Liberty Avenue, Suite 1300, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
