Robert R. Powell,89, of Irwin died Sunday May 23, 2021 at his home. He was born September 21, 1931 in Pittsburgh a son of the late Robert and Gertrude (Berghandler) Powell. Prior to his retirement he was employed as an Adjuster for Nationwide Insurance Company. He was a member of the St. Edward Church, in Herminie. Robert was a veteran of the Army, Military Police serving during the Korean War; a member of the VFW Post 781 of Irwin. He was at one time a youth baseball coach for West Hempfield. Surviving is his wife of 63 years Gladys (McConn) Powell; four sons Chris Powell and his wife Jan, of Newell, Greg Powell and his wife Carol, of Greensburg, Jeff Powell, of North Huntingdon, Matt Powell and fiancé Paula, of Melcroft; six grandchildren Greg, Kelsie, Tayler, Ben, Tim and Jonathan. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ott Funeral Home Inc 805 Pennsylvania Irwin. A funeral service will be held Thursday in the funeral home chapel at 11 am.
