Obituary for Robert W. Zentner

Robert W. Zentner, 81, of North Irwin, died Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg. He was born April 24, 1941, in Larimer, PA, a son of the late William and Adelaide Muentzer Zentner. Robert graduated from Norwin High School and Carnegie Mellon University. He was a retired engineer for Westinghouse Electric, East Pittsburgh and a member of Immaculate Conception Church where he was an usher for many years. He served in the Air National Guard, was a volunteer fireman and social member of the North Irwin VFD for fifty-three years as well as a member of the Mohawks. Robert was a co-founder and coach of the Norwin Soccer Club, a proud AFS parent, an adult leader for the Boy Scouts, was also a board member of the WWMA, and served as North Irwin Borough Council President. He was a talented artisan specializing in woodturning, making beautiful bowls and pens and he also enjoyed making stained glass pieces. He enjoyed traveling, camping and hunting with family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Linda L. Logan Zentner; two children, Lisa Koelsch (Phillip) of Larimer and Scott Zentner of North Irwin; two exchange students that were considered family, Mersi Handayani Nugraha (Yudhi) and their children of Indonesia and Agi Kosa and her child of Hungary; four grandchildren, Brendan, Emma, Nathaniel and Aaron Zentner; five siblings, Richard Zentner (Kathy Nowe) of North Huntingdon, Donna Miller (Gerald) of Latrobe, Judy Holko (Stephen) of Swissvale, Marian Petrillo (James) of Latrobe and Kenny Zentner (Valerie) of Beaufort, SC; sister in law, Betty Paulick (Henry) of Havre De Grace, MD; brother in law, Robert McCall of Elizabeth and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Robert, Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Ott Funeral Home, Inc., 805 Pennsylvania Ave, Irwin, PA 724 863-8900. North Irwin VFD will hold a service Wednesday at 7 pm in the funeral home. Parting prayers will be said in the funeral home Thursday at 9:00 am, followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 9:30 am in the Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Irwin, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the North Irwin VFD, 29 Broadway Ave, North Irwin, PA 15642.
