Ronald T. Shields, 85, of North Huntingdon, died Saturday, March 11, 2023. He was born December 19, 1937, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Kenneth Robert and Margaret Ann Devine Shields. Ronn was a retired supervisor for US Steel and a Veteran of the US Army. Ronn was a huge fan of all Pittsburgh sports- especially the Steelers, where he was a season ticket holder for over 30 years. Ronn had a devotion to weight lifting and loved to tell stories of how in his younger years he worked out with the famous wrestler and Pittsburgh native, Bruno San Martino. He was also an avid animal lover. Ronn dedicated much of his time to the creatures that came into his yard- cats, squirrles, birds, and even insects! In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Darla J. Stark Shields; daughter-in-law, Kim Shields; three sisters, Daria Stehle, Margaret Mary Harper and Rosann Marie Smaglo; and four brothers, Kenneth Robert Shields, Jr., Dennis Shields, Richard Owen Shields and Regis Shields. He is survived by his two children, Erika Shields (Granddog Gordon) of New York, NY and Derek Shields of Atlanta, GA; brother, Joseph Shields (Lorraine, 'Rainey') of Pittsburgh; and numerous nieces and nephews. Erika and Derek will always be grateful to Vicki Grubbs and Chris Bradley. Their companionship, friendship and roles in Ronn’s life enabled him to live his best life. At the family’s request, there will be no public viewing or services. A private ceremony will be taking place on Friday March 17th, 2023.
