Obituary for Shirley "Google" Ann Diana (Bloom)

Shirley Ann “Google” (Bloom) Diana, 82, of Irwin died Sunday, February 7, 2021 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, She was born May 15, 1938, in Pittsburgh a daughter of the late Samuel and Ethel (Cohen) Bloom. Prior to her retirement she was employed at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit as an Educational Assistant for the Woodland Hills School District. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church of Herminie. Shirley was affectionately called Google by her family and friends. In 1989 her first grandson (Tyler) was born and he had trouble articulating his “r’s” thus Grandma became Google. The name was so fitting because she had the answers for everyone’s problems no matter the subject. She knew everything about everything (religion, medical, cars etc.) and just life in general. She was a special angel, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all that knew her. She loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, Friday night bingo, Hallmark movies but most of all she loved her family and friends. Google will be greatly missed but never forgotten. She will live in our hearts forever. She is now at peace in heaven with God. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister Dorothy Tolchin and a brother Leonard Bloom. Surviving is her husband of 64 years Andrew F. “Duke” Diana; four children Deborah Hammert and her husband, Warren, of Rochester, NY, Jeffrey Diana and his wife, Maria, of Greensburg, Michael Diana and his wife, Renee, of North Huntingdon, Hope Diana and her husband, Thomas Sherry, of North Port, FL; nine grandchildren Tyler and his wife, Lauren, Kelsey, Blake, Justin, Zoie and her husband, Jake, Brianna, Andrew, Hannah and Makayla; two great grandchildren Stella and Olivia. To honor Shirley’s wishes there will be no viewing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be private. Entrusted with the arrangements is Ott Funeral Home Inc 805 Pennsylvania Avenue Irwin.
