Wayne L. Briney, age 85, of North Irwin died on Saturday April 2, 2022 in UPMC East, Monroeville. He was born August 22, 1936 in Pitcairn, a son of the late John and Margaret Ludwig Briney. Wayne is also predeceased by a son Mark Briney, sisters Berdetta Craig, Marcene Batzel and Peggy Parks. Wayne worked for US Steel Research of Monroeville for 27 years as a Draftsman and also was employed at Echo Ram of North Huntingdon. He was a 64-year Honorary member of North Irwin Fire Department where he served many positions including: Chief Engineer and Treasurer, Trustee and a EMT for Irwin and Jeannette EMS as well as serving on North Irwin Boro Council. He was a member of First United Church of Christ of Irwin and served on Consistory. Wayne was also a member of the Shidel Lodge #601 F&AM, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Pittsburgh and the Shriners of Pittsburgh. Surviving is his wife of 62 years Kathleen “Kathy” Sullivan Briney, children; Kevin and Timothy Briney both of North Irwin and Diana “Dee” Mariscal and her husband Júlio of Springdale and a daughter in law Yvette Briney. Grandchildren; Michael, Robert, Christopher, Matthew, Joshua and Wayne Briney and Cody Shipley and his wife Sarah. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Ott Funeral Home, Inc., 805 Pennsylvania Ave, Irwin on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm where a funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Brush Creek Cemetery.
