Obituary for William A Szekely

William A. Szekely, 87, of North Huntingdon, died Wednesday, May 17, 2023. He was born September 16, 1935, in North Braddock, a son of the late Albert and Catherine Duritsa Szekely. Prior to retiring from Giant Eagle in North Huntingdon, William had also worked in Thorofare and Shop N Save stores in the East Hills and Swissvale. He was a Veteran of the US Army, Third Infantry, and a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin. In his younger days, William had a dream of working for Walt Disney as he was a very talented sketch artist. Later on in life he enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and making airplane replicas out of balsa wood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Carol A. McDonough Szekely. He is survived by his two sons, Jeffrey Szekely of North Huntingdon and Christopher Szekely of Beaver Falls; two grandchildren, Cecelia and Connor Szekely; sister, Patricia Mroziak (Joseph) of East Pittsburgh; and four nephews, Jody, Joel, Josh and Jordan Mroziak. Relatives and friends are invited to attend William’s funeral Mass to be celebrated on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin. Everyone please go directly to the Church. Interment will follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude PL, Memphis, TN 38105.
